The aggrieved child is the child of Aunt Viola's sister. The conflict began when he was 1 year old and was visiting his aunt with her sister (his mother). He started to cut and smash the precious porcelain and glass miniatures from his aunt's collection because he thought it was funny.

The conflict kept on growing through the years, because Viola made clear to the family that her sister doesn't raise her son properly and spoiled him too much. The child was rebelling against this opinion about him. But in fact, it was the jealousy of the older sister Viola who did not have a child of her own.
